Death begins at birth, and now, in this moment,
I am dying.
Sin and infection have spread, and I am sick,
terminally ill.
Through the person I have made- it lives,
talking in tounges.
Do the others know ?
I hope your new home continues to make you smile,
when you're six feet under and the maggots
are enjoying your soul.

  1. What should fascinate the reader in this piece is the central question - "Do the others know?". The line also bridges the psychological/physical "sin and infection have spread" with the spiritual "new home" and "enjoying your soul".

The title has an echo of the selling of the birthright and underscores the combinations of birth & others & home.

  3. If you like On the Road, you'll want to read Visions of Cody. In that work, that many consider Kerouac's best, he reinvents himself as a writer. A new form.
